The Burned Ethnic Bowl
by Antoine Maurice
The Burned Ethnic Bowl brings a sense of quiet history to the home through its deep matte finish. This handmade black terracotta bowl features a rhythmic studded exterior that captures shifting light and shadow.
Sized generously for shared meals, this artisan bowl feels substantial and grounded. The dark terracotta surface provides a dramatic backdrop for vibrant fruits or neutral linens, while its studded profile makes it a compelling decorative accent when displayed alone.
Create a curated look by pairing this piece with other tonal essentials from The Burned Collection. Each bowl is shaped by artisans in Indonesia, resulting in subtle variations that ensure no two objects are ever exactly alike.

The Idea
The Burned Ethnic Bowl was drawn for The Mesa Collection — which meant working inside the collection's rules before anything else: one material family, honest thickness, and no detail that exists only to be looked at.
The prototype went through the workshop three times. What survived is the version where nothing further could be taken away without the piece stopping working.
The Designer
Antoine Maurice starts every project by measuring: elbow height at a table, the depth a shoulder needs in a lounge chair, the reach across a console.
The result is furniture that is comfortable before it is anything else.
