The Idea
Every piece in Arc Teak begins as something else — a boat hull, a beam, a floor. The timber is already decades old before it reaches the workshop.
That history sets the limits. The design works around what the salvaged stock will allow, not the other way round.
The Designer
ASAÏ are interested in the point at which a craft process becomes a production process without losing the hand.
Their baskets and vessels are made to a pattern, but the pattern is held by a person, not a machine.
The Arc Teak Collection
Woven and turned pieces in reclaimed teak, made with makers in Bali. Arc Teak is the collection with the most hand in it.
