The Sunken Forest Mirror - Natural

A mirror can do more than reflect a room. With its recessed glass centre and generous grass frame, this natural grass round mirror creates a sense of depth that feels sculptural, refined, and quietly unexpected.
The dried grass is shaped by hand into a soft, voluminous outline, giving the mirror a natural texture that warms the wall without feeling heavy. Its organic tone works beautifully in living spaces, bedrooms, hallways, or offices where a subtle statement is needed.
Each piece carries the character of handmade work, with small variations in shape, tone, and fibre movement. Also available in black.
To bring out its fuller character, the grass fibres may need to be softened with steam or gently shaped by hand. This is normally required and considered a natural part of the product setup process, allowing the material to settle into its intended texture and movement.

The Idea
The Sunken Forest Mirror - Natural was drawn for The Atlas Collection — which meant working inside the collection's rules before anything else: one material family, honest thickness, and no detail that exists only to be looked at.
The prototype went through the workshop three times. What survived is the version where nothing further could be taken away without the piece stopping working.
The Designer
Agence Volta look to the fittings of factory life — bench stops, clamp handles, cable runs — and bring them indoors at a scale that suits a living room.
Nothing is decorative for its own sake. Every visible fixing does something.
