The Ithaca Bar Stool - Outdoor
by Agence Volta, Volta
The Ithaca Bar Stool is a beautiful blend of blocky minimalism and organic softness, harmonized with graceful ease. Built for comfort, its lower horizontal crossbars double as an integrated footrest on multiple sides, ensuring structural rigidity while offering a relaxed perch atop the slatted seat.
Arrange The Ithaca Bar Stool beside a covered poolside bar for leisurely cocktails, or pair it with a bar table for a cozy, sheltered balcony setup. Thanks to its open-frame silhouette, the stool tucks neatly beneath a bar counter when not in use, maximizing floor space in smaller settings.
Carved from reclaimed teak, its entire body reveals a rich, weathered texture with wood grain variations that tell the story of its past life. Seal with oil periodically to preserve its golden warmth, or let it gracefully develop a silver-gray patina.

The Idea
The Ithaca Bar Stool - Outdoor was drawn for The Hardy Collection — which meant working inside the collection's rules before anything else: one material family, honest thickness, and no detail that exists only to be looked at.
The prototype went through the workshop three times. What survived is the version where nothing further could be taken away without the piece stopping working.

The Designer
Agence Volta look to the fittings of factory life — bench stops, clamp handles, cable runs — and bring them indoors at a scale that suits a living room.
Nothing is decorative for its own sake. Every visible fixing does something.
