The Burned Jar - S
by Amare, Amare Studio
Gracefully shaped from natural terracotta, The Burned Jar carries a quiet, elemental beauty that feels both ancient and serene. This small jar features a compact, rounded form and a smoky black surface, creating a calm, sculptural presence on your table or shelf.
Two subtle side protrusions provide a natural grip, while the gently fitted lid with its curved knob completes the jar’s balanced silhouette. The deep burned finish reveals delicate tonal variations, allowing glimpses of the clay beneath to emerge. Quietly expressive, it is perfect for storing sugar, spices, tea leaves, or small keepsakes.
Terracotta is microwave and oven safe for gentle heating. To preserve its character, hand washing and proper drying are recommended. Each handmade piece carries subtle variations that celebrate its natural charm.

The Idea
The Burned Jar - S was drawn for The Terra Collection — which meant working inside the collection's rules before anything else: one material family, honest thickness, and no detail that exists only to be looked at.
The prototype went through the workshop three times. What survived is the version where nothing further could be taken away without the piece stopping working.
The Designer
Amare works only with fibres that will age well — linen, hemp, undyed wool — and refuses anything that looks worse after a decade than it did on the first day.
Colour comes from madder, indigo and walnut, so no two runs are identical.
