The Gravity Side Table - Black
by Adélie Ducasse, Atelier Ducasse
The Gravity Side Table brings a sleek and modern aesthetic to your space, crafted from beautiful suar wood with a striking black finish. Its bold design and smooth surface make it the perfect companion to your living room or bedroom, offering both style and practicality. Use it as a side table for your favorite lamp, books, or décor pieces.
Suar wood always varies in tone, colour and pattern. Each piece features gentle imperfections and tonal shifts as quiet signatures of its unique soul. Wood is a living material that expands and contracts, causing cracks and knots. We take steps during transport and in our warehouse to dry and coat suar wooden items, but it may still hold moisture deep within that can seep out over time. Treating the product with a protective oil yearly is recommended, this will also revive the colour.
This product is designed for indoor use only. Outdoor use, even in covered areas, may cause damage due to humidity or weather conditions and is not covered by warranty. Any images showing outdoor use are for styling purposes only.

The Idea
The Gravity Side Table - Black was drawn for The Quarry Collection — which meant working inside the collection's rules before anything else: one material family, honest thickness, and no detail that exists only to be looked at.
The prototype went through the workshop three times. What survived is the version where nothing further could be taken away without the piece stopping working.

The Designer
Adélie Ducasse trained as a cabinetmaker before turning to design, and it shows in the joinery — nothing is hidden, nothing is glued where it could be pegged.
Her pieces for Studio Bizar began with a single question: what does a chair owe the room it stands in? The answer, so far, has been restraint.
